Quebec suspends Immigrant Investor Program

Quebec Immigrant Investor Program has been suspended since Friday, November 1st. Until July 1, 2020, the Quebec  will not accept any new applications.

Quebec’s Minister of Immigration, Mr Simon Jolin-Barrette, cited the decision as saying that there are currently about 20,000 immigration applications in the QIIP that have not yet received their permanent resident visa. He also said that the government would use the opportunity to investigate and apply any changes.

At the same time, the Quebec government allocated a quota to two other Quebec trade programs, Entrepreneur and self-employed Worker programs. By September 30, 2020, Quebec will receive 60 Entrepreneur Programs and 50 Self-Employed Worker Programs.

The Quebec government has issued the third invitation through the Arima system for candidates who meet the following requirements:
– their application for selection submitted under the Regular Skilled Worker Program was finalized, pursuant to Section 28 of the Act; and
– they filed an expression of interest with the Minister before December 17, 2019; and
– they were in one of the following situations:
—  their application, which was finalized under the Act, was submitted to the Minister under Section 5.01 of the Regulation respecting the selection of foreign nationals (CQLR, chapter I-0.2, r. 4); or
— they were staying in Québec on June 16, 2019 while they held a study or work permit issued pursuant to Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (SOR/2002-227).
