Express Entry System

Express Entry is an immigration system which selects skilled workers to Canada under the following Federal Economic programs:

Federal Skilled Worker Program

Federal Skilled Worker Program is for applicants who intend to skilled workers in each region or province except Quebec stay.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

Federal specialized professional program for people who can not get permanent residence based on technical skills.

Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Experience Class immigration category, a classification for temporary foreign workers in Canada who want to be a permanent resident.

The Express Entry system is the first step to immigrate to Canada under these programs. Anyone who is accepted into the Express Entry pool could get an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. Rounds of invitations to invite the top ranking candidates to apply will take place regularly over the course of each year.

If the applicant is invited to apply, he/she will have 60 days to submit a complete Application for Permanent Residence online.

The Process

  • Step 1:

    See if you are eligible under any of the following programs:

    • Federal Skilled Worker Program
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program
    • Canadian Experience Class
    • A provincial nominee Express Entry program (Provincial Nominee Programs Under Express Entry System)
  • Step 2:

    Build your online Express Entry profile.

  • Step 3:

    If you are found eligible, you will be asked to register with Job Bank. Job Bank registration is not required if you have a valid job offer or a provincial nomination.

  • Step 4:

    You will be put into the Express Entry pool of candidates for one year from the day you get in.

  • Step 5:

    You will receive points score based on the information you provided in your profile and will be ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). CIC will issue an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the highest ranking candidates from the pool through regular “rounds of invitations” so they can apply to immigrate as a permanent resident.Â

  • Step 6:

    If you get an Invitation to Apply, you will be told what program you are invited under so you can apply for permanent residence.

  • Step 7:

    Make sure you are still qualified under the program and apply online withi 60 days of invitation.

Fees

There is no fee for creating an Express Entry profile. Job Bank registration is also free. Upon Invitation to Apply you should pay the application fee for the program you are applying under.
