Saskatchewan Entrepreneur

This category is for applicants who wish to invest their management talent and capital in a Saskatchewan business.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the requirements listed below to be eligible to apply under this program as an entrepreneur:

  • A minimum net worth of C$500,000.
  • Minimum three years entrepreneurial or relevant business management experience.

If the applicant is approved by the SINP – Entrepreneur Category, in order to earn a nomination for permanent residency he/she will be required to:

  • Invest a minimum of C$300,000 in Regina and Saskatoon or a minimum of C$200,000 in all other Saskatchewan communities.
  • Establish a business that aligns with the points assigned in the Entrepreneur Category Points Grid, if applicable.
  • Own at least one third (33 1/3%) of the equity of a business in Saskatchewan unless your total investment is at least C$1 million.
  • Provide active and on-going participation in the day to day management and direction of the business.
  • In case of a new business in Regina or Saskatoon, create two employment opportunities for Canadians or permanent residents in Saskatchewan (non-relative workers).

The Process

  • Step 1:

    Online submission of an Expression of Interest.

  • Step 2:

    The highest-scoring qualified candidates are invited to submit an SINP application along with a Business Establishment Plan.

  • Step 3:

    Assessment of the applicant’s net worth and legal accumulation of net worth criteria by a designated professional third party financial service providers.

  • Step 4:

    Candidates that pass the verification stage will be issued a SINP Entrepreneur Approval Letter which will convey support of the applicant’s request for a two year federal temporary work permit.

  • Step 5:

    Applying fo work permit at visa office responsible for the applicant’s country of origin.

  • Step 6:

    Developing the Business. When the applicant arrives in Saskatchewan, he/she has up to two years to develop a business as described in the submitted Business Establishment Plan.

  • Step 7:

    Issuance of a nominee certificate upon substantial progress developing the business by completion or even before completion of two years.

  • Step 8:

    Making a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent resident visas.

  • Step 9:

    Medical and security examinations and issuance of permanent resident visas.

Fees

SINP Application Fee: C$ 2,500

Federal Processing Fee: C$ 550 for each person 19 years and over, C$ 550 for each child

Right of Permanent Residence Fee: C$ 490 for main applicant, C$ 490 for spouse
