Saskatchewan Farm Category

The farm category of SINP is for applicants with proven experience in farming, substantial capital available to invest in a farming operation, and who intend to purchase and operate a farming operation in Saskatchewan.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Farm Owner/Operator category you must meet all of the following four criteria:

  • Net worth of at least C$500,000.
  • Refundable Cash Deposit of C$75,000 in trust. The cash deposit will be returned to the applicant when the terms of the Performance Agreement are met.
  • conduct a comprehensive exploratory visit to Saskatchewan of no less than five working days and must meet with an SINP representative.
  • Farm operation knowledge and experience.

The farm owner/operator category is restricted to proprietary businesses that include primary agricultural production. Agri-business operations may qualify under the Entrepreneur category of the SINP.

Application Criteria:

  • Have a minimum personal net worth of C$300,000.
  • Age under 40.
  • Minimum of three years farm ownership, farm management or practical farming experience.
  • A documented proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity.
  • Marketable employment skills for the applicant or spouse, based on education and experience that allows supplementing income.

Nomination Requirements:

  • Conducting an exploratory visit to Saskatchewan that lasted at least five days.
  • Having practical farming experience with skills that are relevant to Saskatchewan farming conditions.
  • Making a minimum equity investment of C$150,000 in a new or existing farming operation in Saskatchewan.

The Process

  • Step 1:

    Making an exploratory 5-day visit to Saskatchewan and meet with a SINP representative.

  • Step 2:

    Submit a complete application to SINP.

  • Step 3:

    Assessment of the applicant’s net worth and legal accumulation of net worth criteria by a designated professional third party financial service providers.

  • Step 4:

    Payment of SINP application processing fee and complete assessment of the application by SINP.

  • Step 5:

    Signing the Business Performance Agreement and making the C$75,000 refundable good faith deposit.

  • Step 6:

    Issuance of a nominee certificate.

  • Step 7:

    Making a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent resident visas.

  • Step 8:

    Medical and security examinations and issuance of permanent resident visas.

Fees

SINP Application Fee: C$ 2,500

Federal Processing Fee: C$ 550 for each person 19 years and over, C$ 550 for each child

Right of Permanent Residence Fee: C$ 490 for main applicant, C$ 490 for spouse
