The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program accelerates the Permanent Resident application process for applicants who want to settle in BC permanently. The applicant may propose one Key Staff member whose expertise is essential to the success of proposed business.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the requirements listed below to be eligible to apply under this program as an entrepreneur:

  • General Nomination Requirements
    • active and ongoing management of the day-to-day business operations
    • demonstrated residence in B.C.
    • admissibility to Canada

  • Personal Requirement
    • personal net worth of at least $600,000
    • business and/or management experience
  • Business requirements
    • establish a new business or purchase and improve an existing business
  • Investment requirements
    • make an eligible personal investment of at least $200,000 in the business
  • Job requirements
    • create at least one new full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in the business

The Process

  • Step 1:

    Online registration with PC PNP

  • Step 2:

    The highest-scoring qualified candidates are invited to submit an application

  • Step 3:

    Assessment of the applicant’s net worth and legal accumulation of net worth criteria by a qualified supplier in BC

  • Step 4:

    Submission of application within 4 months of receiving the invitation to apply

  • Step 5:

    Issuance of a Letter of Confirmation (work permit support letter) to suuccessful applicants in order to apply for a two-year work permit.

  • Step 6:

    Applying fo work permit at visa office responsible for the applicant’s country of origin.

  • Step 7:

    Developing the Business. When the applicant arrives in BC, he/she has up to two years to develop a business as described in the submitted Business Plan.

  • Step 8:

    Issuance of a nominee certificate upon substantial progress developing the business by completion or even before completion of two years.

  • Step 9:

    Making a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent resident visas.

  • Step 10:

    Medical and security examinations and issuance of permanent resident visas.

Fees

BC PNP Registration Fee: C$ 300

BC PNP Application Fee: C$ 3,500 (Additional C$ 1000 for key staff member if applicable)

Federal Processing Fee: C$ 550 for each person 19 years and over, C$ 550 for each child

Right of Permanent Residence Fee: C$ 490 for main applicant, C$ 490 for spouse
